7/7/2023 0 Comments Ultimate rc mini e revo![]() ![]() Traxxas LiPo batteries are offered in 2-cell (7.4 volts), 3-cell (11.1v), and 4-cell (14.8v) configurations. The cells are stacked and enclosed in a tough, semi-rigid wrap. LiPo battery packs are composed of flat 3.7-volt cells. Traxxas NiMH batteries are offered with 6 cells (7.2 volts), 7 cells (8.4 volts) or 8 cells (9.6 volts). NiMH batteries can be discharged completely without harming the battery, and they do not need to be charged before storage. The rolled-metal construction of the individual cells, and the double-welded tabs Traxxas uses to connect the cells, makes them extra rugged. NiMH battery packs are composed of cylindrical 1.2-volt cells, similar to the AA, C, and D batteries that we’re all used to installing in flashlights, TV remotes, and other devices. These Power Cell NiMH batteries have seven 1.2-volts cells, for a total of 8.4 volts. Each type has different advantages to consider when choosing a battery or batteries for your model. Traxxas offers a wide assortment of battery sizes, voltages, and capacities, but when it comes to the chemistry inside the batteries, they all fall into two categories: LiPo (Lithium Polymer) and NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride). Understanding Battery Chemistry Battery Types ![]() Traxxas makes finding compatible batteries easy: just look up your model at, and then click Batteries on the menu to view all of the NiMH and LiPo packs that can be used in your model. Note that batteries are not universal a battery may not be the right size to fit in your model or it may have more voltage than the power system is rated to handle. Capacity is displayed in mAh while voltage is displayed with V. All you need to remember is that the higher the capacity number, the longer your model will run on each charge. Capacity is indicated in milliamp hours, or “mAh.” This number refers to the amount of current in milliamps the battery can supply for one hour. Voltage determines how much speed and power your model will have, while capacity determines how long it will run on a charge. See Exploded View Drawings and Repair and Service for assistance. The primary specs you’ll consider when choosing a battery are voltage (determined by how many cells are in the pack) and capacity (how much energy is stored in the battery). Transmission damage Open the transmission and inspect for damaged gears.Pinion gear loose Tighten the set screw on the motor pinion and verify that it is not loose. Also make sure the slipper clutch is not loose and slipping excessively. Loose or damaged spur gear A loose or stripped spur gear will prevent the truck from moving when the motor revs up.*This step does NOT apply to brushless motors. If the motor turns quickly, the issue lies with the ESC or radio system. Replace the motor if it turns slowly or not at all. Check the motor (brushed) by removing it and connecting directly to a battery. Motor Worn Electric motors require periodic replacement.Missing axle drive pins? Install drive pins in the axle and tighten the wheel nuts.Receiver failure Test, replace, or Return the receiver to Traxxas for service.Speed control receiver lead is unplugged or loose Check the connector that plugs into channel #2 on the receiver to make sure that it's tight.ESC requires programming You may need to reprogram the ESC for proper operation. This support video will show you how to diagnose and clear this error. If you accidentally run a NiMH battery with the low-voltage feature active, your vehicle will likely only run briefly before the ESC status light blinks red. If you are using LiPo batteries, the status like should be green, indicating that low-voltage protection is active. When using NiMH batteries, the status light on your ESC should be solid red. ESC Error? Traxxas electronic speed controls feature thermal protection and low voltage cut-off to protect LiPo batteries, which can become damaged if their voltage drops too low.Battery pack is completely discharged The battery must be charged for the vehicle to operate. ![]() Try another battery if you are unsure of your battery's status. Battery pack is not properly connected or is damaged Make sure the battery pack is plugged in correctly and that the pins inside of the connector (plug) are not bent or damaged.Turn on the vehicle after a fully charged battery has been installed. ![]() Transmitter not switched on The radio must be turned on first before connecting the battery pack. ![]()
